| When the
first green flag is unfurled this coming April at the Marshalltown
Speedway, the former chief starter at the famed quarter mile will begin
a new era. Toby Kruse from Boone, who has been employed by the speedway
in many capacities, will now be the one who makes the weekly
decisions. “After months of interviewing for the
track promoter position, we are pleased to announce that Toby Kruse
will be our man,” said Fair Board President Perry
Moore. “Toby brings to us enthusiasm, many new
ideas and vast racing management experience which is
priceless.”
Kruse has worked in the motor sports field as a track announcer, chief
starter plus being a director with I.M.C.A. (International Motor
Contest Association) working with race promoters from California to New
York.
“This is something I have always worked towards,”
commented Kruse. “I had the opportunity to travel
throughout the country working with promoters. I have had the
opportunity to see what separates a winning from a losing facility. Now
I can sort out what I saw was working and what was not working, which
should be a big plus for our program.”
Not only will Kruse be leading the speedway with new found enthusiasm,
but will also be adding a few new looks. “We have started by
putting a great crew to work doing massive dirt work to the
racetrack. Along with this, new lights will be added to the
track for the racers visibility and the fans viewing
pleasure. We have many cleaning, painting and face lifting
projects in the works” stated Kruse.
Next years weekly racing will consists of I.M.C.A. Modifieds, Stock Cars, Hobby
Stocks and Sport Mods.
The season will also highlight the June Stock Car Shoot-Out and the
return of the Deery
Brothers Late Model Summer Series event on July 11th
during the Central Iowa Fair. |
